RE: Gnats

Here in upper SC 'em nats are about to carry everyone off. A few months ago,We stayed in a RV park about 5 miles from where our home was being built. The nats were there to beat the band. outside, inside everwhere. We finally got the home ready and moved in last July. The nats are here too. We are next door to our Daughter and they have the same problems. DW broke out a couple of scented candles and burnt them for the last couple of days. Guess what, no more nats. You might try this. They may be back when they can get some of those tiny resperators made especially for nats, but I don't think so.

RE: Trading for older RV

I haven't looked at it yet, only some pictures. I did see a washer/dryer combo which is worth something. Our first RV, a class C, did not have one. The Bounder does and we both like the conveniance. Can't wash much at one time but a little at a time is good.

Trading for older RV

DW and I have a gasser 06 Fleetwood Bounder, 35E. We have had some problems with it.( the problems are supposedly taken care of for now) We have it paid for. But we feel it is a bit crowded and we are not happy with the floor plan. What do you think about a 2005 Fleetwood Providence, 39J deisel, 13,000 mi for $123,000, trade in $75,000, owing $48,600.? We havent looked at it yet but plan to Friday. Did look at pictures.

RE: Dead house batteries.

I really appreciate all the answers I received. I followed up and did hook back to shore power from house, 30 amp. The batteries seem to be ok now. I plan to cut the shore power and see if they do hold. Again, thanks for all your input.

RE: Roof on Bounder

We have a 2006 Bounder, 35E. It has the TPO roof. As Big Katuna says, it is suposed to be superior to rubber or fiber glass. Look at your owner's manual. It should give you info on how to care for it. There is not much maint involved. Wash it and go.

RE: Dead house batteries.

MrWizard, where would I find the solar pannel controller? I had the forward air conditioner repaired about a month ago. The solar pannel is located on top of the conditioner's cover. I am beginning to suspect that the tech may have failed to hoo the pannel back up. The light inside the MH inside the air vent below the solar pannel is lit but I still think this may be the problem. I just topped off the water a couple of weeks ago, but will check it again and clean the connections. Thanks.

Dead house batteries.

On our 06 Bounder I have never had a problem with the batteries. The other day, I went to check things and noticed the house batteries were deadern heck. The chasis battery was ok. This is acording to the meter on the dash. I started the gen set and let it run for about an hour. Turned gen off and the batteries were back to norm. ( the gen would not start until I started the engine) I have a solar pannel and It has always kept the batteries topped off. Any in-put would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Foggy windows

The windows in my 57 chevy used to do that when at the drive in movies.

RE: Fuel Availability Along Interstate 95 In NC, SC, GA, & FL?

We live Walhalla, which is in Upstate SC, near the GA border. Gas is in short supply here, I see a lot of autos from GA here filling up when a gas station gets a delivery. Makes me wonder if our GA neighbors are causing our shortage.

RE: 2 minor problems with toilet and step

Our toilet does this at times. I have found if I work at it hard enough, I can maneuver my bod enough to fit a hex socket onto the screw located( you guessed it) on the rear of the toilet. This is on the band that tightens the band around the connections. By tightening this screw, I have a few months relief from the leak. If you haven't looked you may want to check this.

RE: Defective New Blue Ox Tow Bar - dangerous - Long

I have a Blue OX that I purchased in Spring of 2006. I have noticed that sometimes when I am at a rest stop that one or the other bars would be loose and the other would be tight. I called Blue OX and was told this was ok. I have also noticed the shove that an eighteen wheeler puts on me. It's not much but it does affect the steering some. I become to expect the sway and adjust for it. I was also told this is normal. Just put on four new Michelins on the CRV. I guestimate we got over forty thousand miles on them, 10,000 towed miles. Is the things that are happening to me normal? Now after hearing your story, I am not so sure. I think I had better check with Blue Ox. Thanks for this info. Don't forget the serial #.

RE: Mayport Jacksonville RV Park

It's a nice RV park. We have been there several times over the last three years. The Hosts, Woody and Rita are very nice. George, the entertainment planner will do a good dance at the new years party if you pad his waist band with $$$$:B. We enjoy it there. If there, tell Joe Pellegrino, one of the maint persons, that Harold and Faye say HI and hope to see him and Bunny soon.

RE: power steps

We have a 2006 Bounder 35E. It is equipped with quickee steps. Within two months after purcase(new) the steps failed. We were at the dealer when this happened for another problem. The mechanic went under it, got a bigger hammer, banged the s$%^ outta it, and pronounced it fixed....until we returned home, 50 mile trip. The steps failed agan there at home. Took the unit back to CW. they said it needed a new motor, ordered same. two weeks later, went back and had new motor installed. One year later, steps failed again. took it back to CW. This time, luckly had a tech who was savy. He said the housing was cause of failure. the housing was faulty. The parts were no longer avail. Ins would not pay. Finally convinced INS to pay. They had to replace the whole unit with a new unit. There was only a $30 diff in repairs and a new unit. CW donated the $30. Had this and a problem with air cond and the two combined cost, outta my pocket the $50 deductable.

RE: Question Please?

DW and I have Alltel. Havent been on the road in so long I can't say how it will work. Here at home, it works great. We are hoping to get back on the road soon. The reason we have been off the road is we sold our home and downsized and bought a new double wide. We have been getting settled in and almost have it livable. Shoot, it's almost like camping. This place is in the woods at least a mile from a paved road it is so quite. We have the MH here with us.

RE: Why Am I Nervous About My First Time At The Dump Station?

Hey we all had to "learn the ropes" the 1st time we used the dump station. I wasn't bashful and asked for some help from some of the more experienced RVers that were in line. All of them were willing to lend a hand and teach. Good luck and happy RVing. All will be fine! :) As the post above says, if someone is in front of you, ask to observe or observe from a distance. Let them know it's your 1st time, they'll understand. It's really not that hard. :) Shoot, that's what I have been doing for three years,(Asking for help), Never once have I had my hands get dirty...:B

RE: Canadian coin exchange?

Speaking here about coins reminds me of a shipmate of long ago.Back in the mid sixties, The Philippino peso ( I think that was what the coin was)anyhoo it was about the size of our fifty cent piece. Back then, they were made of silver. On the last night ashore in olongopo, most of us would toss our left over coins from the bridge near the main gate to the kids swimming in the river.(For three years, we made many calls to olongopo.)The kids would dive for them in the river. But, One shipmate would not part with his left over coins. He would even buy your left over coins for 1/2 value. Not long ago I was talking to him. I asked him about all those coins. He said he took them and had them appraised. When he sold them them a couple of years ago,He says he made a fortune off them. . If I had only had any sense (cents) back then and done the same thing. :Z

RE: Man this really rips it...!!!

We were on our way for a nice vacation, you know the type, overnighting at Wal-Mart to save campground fees, and then on to our destinations of placing posters around. Anyway,we pulled into this flying J and were going to fuel up at the trucker pumps when we were told that we couldn't use that island. So we left and went over to the Love's but the island was so tight we couldn't get in there either. Well, we finally get fuel and head out on our way again, you know driving 50 in the left hand lane when this trucker comes up behind blowing his horn and shooting the bird to us. So I pulled over in the right hand lane and dialed 911 on my cell phone while I reached under the seat and pulled out my 45 and waved it at him. After I got off the phone I whipped out my digital camera to get a shot of the truck and that's when I veered off the road and blew a tire. Now here's the part that really rips it, those 10 year old Michelins with only 20,000 miles on them aint under warranty. Can you believe they will not stand behind this clearly faulty tire? I wish I could have got a good shot of the truckers tag number I would call that company up and make them buy me a new set of tires. o.k. rant over. ya'll know I'm just yankin' yer chain but sometimes after readin' some of the posts on here....you know what I mean. :W Hey MR. Preacher, I got an extra one of them Michelin tars. I used it as a spare fer about 15 years. It has been pached only twice. Although it has been in the hen house,as a roost for the last ten years, and while it was not a white side at first, its still got a lot of tread on it. Iffen you want it I'll ship it to you COD. :B

RE: He hit my trailer I can't believe it

Talking about age or disability, A few years ago, I had a bran spanking new PU truck. I parked it outside a store in a legal parking space. DW was sitting in the truck when this older man drove in and parked beside us. He tried a couple of times to open his door to get out. ( he was not in his space straight) Finally, he just slammed his door into my door, several times, DW rolled down her window when he was walking into the store and asked him what he was thinking of. He angrly told her what she could do to herself and continued on into store. I came out about that time and DW pointed out the dammage. I walked into the store and confronted him. After telling me what I could do to myself, he said poor old folks like him was always being picked on by un handicaped people. I called the Police and they made a report in my favor, I turned it into INS they collected from his INS CO. This man was not in a handicapped space. He had the gall to call me later and threaten me with violence. Had him arrested and he spent 30 days in pokey. Havent heard from him anymore. Just goes to prove, young jerks grow up to be Old jerks.

RE: Fleetwood Providence

I may be mistaken, but assuming you have a diesel Bounder, its about the same coach you already have? Same TPO roof, same exposed cabinet hinges, same vinyl wrapped cabinet fronts, etc. You get tile and fancier window trim, etc. Probably bigger engine. I have an 05 Expedition CAT C-7, Allison 3000. I don't think I would change to a Providence. Allegro Phaeton or bus, perhaps. The Bounder we have is a gasser, 35E.

RE: Alas, poor Big Foot! I knew him, Horatio.

When I first heard about this and saw the pictures, I thought it was my cousin from Arkansas. After looking closer, I knew it wasn't him because BF had too many teeth. I hope Cuz doesn't read this. If he does, he may come looking for me and gum me to death.
